Kauani is a project by Inés Quezada, a Mexican textile designer, and Inés Llasera, a product designer from Madrid, in which they merge their disciplines to create textile objects.
Kauani means “to bloom” in Nahuatl and focuses her practice on the creation of knitted luminaires inspired by plant elements, observing their shapes, colors, patterns, textures, origins and contexts. Emulating endemic species such as cactus textures, agave geometries, corn patterns, mamey and guanabana seeds or the pigmentation of cacao and chilli peppers.
